President Ford Addresses Members of 1976 U.S. Olympic Team

In this photograph by Karl Schumacher, President Gerald R. Ford addresses members of the 1976 Summer U.S. Olympic team. President Ford welcomed the team to the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden also known as the East Garden on August 5, 1976, following their competition at the Olympics in Montreal, Canada. Ford also presented athlete and humanitarian Jesse Owens with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor a president can bestow, at the event.
